About
Hi, I’m Savannah!
I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of North Florida. Broadly, my research explores the ecology of sharks. I hope my work will inform sustainable fisheries management and the conservation of shark nursery habitats and global shark populations. I am committed to sustainable management of marine resources and ocean stewardship through the use of science, education, and public outreach.
I grew up on the Gulf coast of Florida spending a majority of my time exploring the mangrove canals and kayaking to barrier islands. These experiences instilled a lifelong appreciation and love for the ocean which ultimately inspired me to pursue a career in marine science. In 2018 I graduated from the University of Florida with a BS in Zoology. I then spent a year as a research technician at the Cape Eleuthera Institute before beginning my graduate studies in 2019. I earned my Ph.D. in 2025 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a member of the Bruno Lab.
